Bokken Daito
Is there somewhere online I can learn sword-fighting with bokken swords?
A pair of bokken swords/wooden training daito (http://www.trueswords.com/natural-bokken-swords-wooden-training-daitos-p-1263.html) was given to my brother and me as a gift, and we’d like to find a site with videos or a readable manual or something. We can’t really afford to pay for lessons or anything, so it looks like the internet saves the day again…. I hope. 
Unfortunately, there is no reputable resource for learning sword techniques online. Even if such a resource existed, you can’t “learn” anything from online techniques. Even simple kata have an enormous number of details contained within each movement, and it takes years to learn them all. Furthermore, without proper context about what the movements represent and their application, then you are not really learning swordsmanship. A kata without context is just dancing with a stick, so even if you can mimic the movements you see online, you’re not learning how to fight. Online/video/written resources are only intended to help current students; they are not intended nor can they teach someone without a qualified instructor.
Your best bet if you are interested in swordsmanship and don’t have a large budget is to look into kendo. Kendo is very inexpensive to train in since the instructors are all volunteer.
