how can i prevent bloody knuckles from my gloves/heavy bag?
in my work outs, i go about an hour to an hour and a half with my heavy bag, i was told my skin still needs to adapt to what i put it through. will my skin get calluses on my knuckles and webbings? i have mma gloves and they fit just right. so wrapping them seems out of the question (it’d be too tight), i heard vaseline will help but won’t that ruin the inside of a leather glove? any suggestions how to prevent this or is this something i just have to go through until my skin adapts?

If you are hitting a heavy bag you NEED to be wrapped, what you are doing isn’t building callouses or helping you, it is a hinderance to your training.
Nobody wears just MMA gloves for anything other than grappling. When you fight your hands are heavily taped. When you train on the heavy bag your hands are ALWAYS wrapped.
My suggestion is to let your skin heal up (before you get a nasty infection), get some bigger gloves, or just wrap up and use heavier gloves when working the bag.
(When working the heavy bag, I hardly ever wear my MMA gloves, except when I am breaking a new pair in.) I may hit with MMA gloves maybe once a month or so, just to keep sensitivity as far as the shock of the impact.
Training on heavy bag extensively with MMA gloves can lead to compression injuries in your elbows, work the heavy bag fully wrapped, and with heavier gloves.
There is no need to try to toughen up your skin or get callouses, it is pointless and doesn’t make you any more effective or able to hit any harder, it just gives you ugly, calloused ridden arthritic hands.
Trust me, boxers don’t hit heavy bags barehanded, and MMA fighters don’t hit bags (or people) without being wrapped or taped beneath those gloves. “Perfect Fitting” MMA gloves are ones that fit very snug once wrapped or taped, but will be slightly lose if you are just wearing them. Since you never just wear them without being wrapped or taped, there is no point in JUST having MMA gloves on, except for maybe grappling training so you can get used to the gloves while grappling, but then it is far better to also be tapped so that you get a full understanding of the mobility of the gloves and tape when grappling and gripping.
