Killer Spa Covers?
How dangerous is an overweight foam spa cover? Recently a friend was checking the chemicals in your spa. Instead of trying to remove the entire spa cover, he decided to just lift one side enough to get in the water long enough to obtain a sample. He leaned and support the heavy deck with his left arm while trying to fill a bottle of water sampling of the spa to check the chemical content, and total alkalinity.
As he leaned further, the weight of water logged spa cover dislocated his left shoulder and allowed the cover to hit him in the back making him fall at the spa. They did exactly what any of us to do and rushed immediately to hospital. The doctor diagnosed Bell's palsy, which can be caused by stress and / or trauma, such as a large spa hitting coverage in the head. He later made a full recovery. It was very fortunate.
Here's something you never hear of a foam spa cover distribution. Every year people are hurt by foam hot tub covers. Most injuries come from a gust of wind the heavy foam cover over people as they use the spa.
