Can anyone give me ideas on red, white and blue flowers for large pots?
I will be planting several very large pots for the center of this summer … in search of red white and blue go together. Sage Thinking in red … or maybe the geraniums. Any other ideas? We are zone 5.
are some ideas to start well in mind. The sage and geranium will give you some reds. Geraniums come in white too. Do not forget petunias, stocks (Mathiola) baby's breath (white and sweet smelling nice), snapdragons, stocks of fragrant night (these are behind the plants that hang over the edge hide a bit of container, which are blue and spicy aroma during the dark hours and very pleasant on a warm summer night), carnation (multiple red and white flowers are very colorful), morning glory and blue lobelia can be if you can find the right variety, you may have Nigella nice blues, red and white phlox, a nice linum blue, red monarda a beautiful and deep, Veronica (speedwell) can be a great blue, but you need to find a variety that is not too high, dephinium another big blue but also the need to find less tall varieties for pots, finally Anchusa may be a fine blue and is a border plant, so that very well spill over the sides of a container. The varieties easy to find for your project be the white and red. Plants with blue flowers is hard. Sounds like a good color combo tho. Good luck and enjoy!
